If you’ve seen the video for Maddie & Tae’s latest song, “Fly,” then you know there are some cool shots in the video where they are sitting on chairs that are attached to a wall about 10 feet off the ground. Tae Dye says everything you see was actually real and not Photoshopped, and there were no safety harnesses or restraints used, but not by choice.
Tae says, “We walked in and we saw how high they were and we were like, ‘How do you expect us to get on those and we were supposed to be harnessed in, but the dresses that we chose for that scene were a little too tight and we couldn’t put the harnesses underneath them. So, we ended up just climbing on ladders and sitting on the chairs, and we were careful not to move too much ‘cause we would kinda get scared.”
Once they saw the finished video for “Fly,” Tae says, “We were both very happy with how it turned out. It was a lot of fun. Yes, we were nervous, but excitement overruled that.”

Maddie & Tae – video chair wall :39
Tae Dye – “Believe it or not, the chairs on the wall are actually not Photoshopped. That is completely real, and yes, it was just as intimidating in person. We walked in and we saw how high they were and we were like, ‘How do you expect us to get on those and we were supposed to be harnessed in, but the dresses that we chose for that scene were a little too tight and we couldn’t put the harnesses underneath them. So, we ended up just climbing on ladders and sitting on the chairs, and we were careful not to move too much ‘cause we would kinda get scared. But, we were both very happy with how it turned out. It was a lot of fun. Yes, we were nervous, but excitement overruled that.”
