At just 18 years old, Maddie & Tae have a long list of strong female influences that they look up to in country music. Maddie starts the list with “Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks, Jo Dee Messina.” Tae also cites Lee Ann Womack and she says, “We love Carrie (Underwood).” Of course Maddie says you can’t forget Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift, and Tae would add Kacey Musgraves to the list as well.
While we haven’t heard any stories yet, we would imagine some of those ladies get a kick out of Maddie & Tae’s debut single, “Girl in a Country Song,” poking fun at the way guys sometimes portray girls in country songs.

Maddie & Tae have been stirring things up in country music as their debut single “Girl In A Country Song” continues its rise up the country charts in the top 25 this week in Mediabase. The girls have one show on the books at this point as they continue to visit radio stations across the country and that’s on November 8 at Global Life Park in Arlington, Texas.
