(AUDIO) MANY FANS KNEW RILEY GREEN FROM HIS HUNTING SHOWS BEFORE THEY KNEW HIM AS A SINGER

Besides being a great country singer, Riley Green is also an avid hunter, who has his own hunting shows as part of the HALO Country video series.  Riley never had designs on getting his own hunting show, it just happened naturally.  He says, “I hunted for fun. I was never a show guy, I watched them when I was sitting around a hunting camp or something.”

Riley was a fan of Wayne Pearson’s Ultimate Outdoors, which was one of the first hunting shows on ESPN, and he says, “They asked me to come be on an episode, like host an episode down in Georgia.”

While it was a lot of fun, it was also work.  Riley says, “People don’t realize if you’re filming a show, any kind of show really, is how much goes into it – time wise, the B roll and the interviews.  And if I go down there and I shoot a turkey and the camera guy didn’t get it on camera, it’s not a show. Or, go hunt for two days, there’s no guarantee you’re even going to see a bird.”

Luckily for Riley, his experience on Wayne Pearson’s show turned out great because he says, “I missed one the first day and ended up killing one the last day. So you had that like kind of up and down and (drama) that made a good episode. And it was one of their most popular episodes in a while. So he ended up wanting me to host a show.  So then we went and I hosted Ultimate Outdoors for a few episodes.”

Now Riley gets to host his own shows on HALOcountry.com, when he’s not busy promoting his music, including his debut single, “There Was This Girl,” which is also his first top ten song.

“I hunted for fun. I was never a show guy, I watched them when I was sitting around a hunting camp or something. But, Wayne Pearson’s Ultimate Outdoors is one of the first shows that was on ESPN, a huntin’ show that’s been on forever. Wayne’s been hosting it. And they asked me to come be on an episode, like host an episode, down in Georgia. Went down and people don’t realize if you’re filming a show, any kind of show really, is how much goes into it – time wise, the B roll and the interviews.  And if I go down there and I shoot a turkey and the camera guy didn’t get it on camera, it’s not a show.
