(AUDIO) MARTINA McBRIDE HAVING FIRST EXPERIENCE OF DAUGHTER GOING OFF TO COLLEGE

When Martina McBride’s oldest daughter, Delaney, graduated from high school, she decided to attend a college in Nashville, so there wasn’t a lot of adjustment that had to be made in terms or her being gone.  But now Martina’s second daughter, Emma, is attending college away from home, so it will definitely be a bit of an adjustment for the family without her around, although Martina expects it will be a bit of a struggle for Emma too.  She explains, “Emma was the kid that didn’t go on a sleepover until she was 12 or 13. I remember John and I would go out on a date and we wouldn’t even be out of the driveway, and she’d be calling “When are you coming home?” We hadn’t even left yet. We’ve always been super close. I know that this decision for her to go away for school is kind of a back-and-forth decision for her. I feel like she’s going to be struggling with being away from us, but I also feel like there is a part of her that’s really excited about being on her own. So I’m just trying to embrace that part and support her with that.”

Fortunately, Martina has work to keep her mind off of her emptying nest.  This week she will be embarking on the Sarah Cannon Band Against Cancer Tour, featuring her latest single, “Just Around the Corner” as the anthem of the tour.  You can learn more at BandAgainstCancer.com.
