(AUDIO) MARTINA McBRIDE IS GRATEFUL TO LADY ANTEBELLUM FOR HER LATEST SINGLE

Martina McBride’s latest single, “Reckless,” was almost not hers. Martina explains, “I found the song and it was actually on hold for another artist. It was on hold for Lady Antebellum. So I knew immediately, I just felt so strongly about it and I just really, really wanted it to be mine. So about three weeks went by and I kept bugging the record company and bugging Sarah (Buxton, one of the writers), and was like ‘What’s going on? Do they still want to do the song?’ and so finally Nathan Chapman, one of my producers, called Charles and said, ‘You know, Martina really loves that song’ and he said ‘Well if she loves it, she should have it.’”

Martina was so grateful to Charles and Lady Antebellum for letting her have the song to record and she says, “I can remember, it was the first song that we cut for the record. And I was just standing in the vocal booth just crying because I was so grateful to him and grateful to have the song and just so grateful to have a song that I connected so strongly with to start the record with.”

Reckless is the title track of Martina’s latest album, which is available now.
