(AUDIO) MARTINA McBRIDE IS GROWING AND LEARNING TO PREPARE KALE

This summer, Martina McBride has been enjoying harvesting all kinds of fresh vegetables from her garden, including zucchini, poblano peppers, jalapeno peppers, tomatoes, eggplant and kale.  Like a lot of people without a lot of experience with kale, one thing Martina has had to learn is how to prepare it in appetizing ways.  She says, “I’m still trying to figure it out, to be honest.  Like I got that kale and I was like, ‘well now what do I do with it?’ Right?”

One kale salad she loves is at a Nashville restaurant called Tavern. She says, “They chop it up really, really tiny.  Don’t go with a date or somebody you care about because it will get in your teeth.  But they chop it up really, really fine.  I don’t know, it’s really good and I’m thinking about trying to find a recipe like that with it.”

Perhaps Martina will be able to discover some new kale recipes while she’s traveling the country on her Love Unleashed tour, which kicks off in mid-October.  She’ll be performing songs from her latest album, Reckless, including her latest single, “Just Around the Corner,” as well as some of her hits.
