Martina McBride and her husband John have been married for 28 years, and the way they make their marriage work is by keeping it real. Martina says, “We’re really good friends, you know, as well as husband and wife. And we’re partners in, you know, a lot of my career and the studio, and we just have a lot of things that intertwine.”
Martina and John are also both from Kansas, so she says they share a lot of the same values and are both pretty down to earth people. It also helps that they’re both in the entertainment business. Martina says, “Our careers kinda complement each other, he’s a sound engineer, has enabled us to really grow together. If I was to be off traveling and doing all these exciting things and he wasn’t able to share that with me, it would be hard for both of us. So, I think that it’s really important that we’ve been able to do this together.”
Martina will be touring on the fair and festival circuit this summer, and then she’ll kick off a tour in conjunction with the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute in the fall, with her latest single, “Just Around the Corner,” being used as part of Sarah Cannon’s program to raise awareness about cancer support through BandAgainstCancer.com.

“We’re just very real with each other. We’re really good friends, you know, as well as husband and wife. And we’re partners in, you know, a lot of my career and the studio, and we just have a lot of things that intertwine. Obviously we have three kids, so we’re partners in that. You know, we both grew up in Kansas, which is very down to earth. And we’re just the same people we’ve always been, you know. And I think the fact that we’ve been able to experience this career together in a way, our careers kinda complement each other, he’s a sound engineer, has enabled us to really grow together. If I was to be off traveling and doing all these exciting things and he wasn’t able to share that with me, it would be hard for both of us. So, I think that it’s really important that we’ve been able to do this together.”
