Martina McBride’s latest album is called Reckless, and while she’s not a reckless person in general, she does feel like she made some reckless decision early on in her career that ultimately ended up paying off for her. Martina says, “Moving to Nashville would be the first one. I grew up in a tiny, little town of about 180 people in Kansas. There was certainly nobody around me who wanted to do what I wanted to do. So I had nobody to look to for advice on how to make it in the music business. My husband and I were newlyweds. We’d been married for about a year. We just picked up everything and moved to Nashville and didn’t know a soul here and just got to work. We were so green. We had no idea what we were doing.”
Obviously her decision paid off, but Martina says, “I look back on that now … and think how crazy was that? We had no plan and nothing to fall back on. It was just a reckless desire to be in this business and to try to make it happen.”
You can find Martina’s latest single, “Just Around the Corner,” on her Reckless album.

Martina McBride – reckless career decision :48
“Well moving to Nashville would be the first one. We had no idea what we were doing. I look back on that now and it felt so right at the time and it obviously was right, but I look back on it and think how crazy was that. We had no plan and nothing to fall back on. It was just a reckless desire to be in this business and to try to make it happen.”
