This Friday (April 29), Martina McBride will release her new album, Reckless. She says some of it is real rootsy and organic, while other songs are more country than she’s done in a while.
It reminds her of Evolution, an album she recorded nearly 20 years ago that delivered hits like…”Broken Wing,” “Happy Girl,” and “Valentine.” The last of which became her first to chart outside of the country format.
Until she ran across what became her new single and ultimately, the album’s title…Martina had been going for more of a particular sound for the album. That’s when her husband, John, reminded her that the songs were more important…

Martina – new album has lots of different sounds :19
“John just told me, he said, ya know, I don’t know why you’re so hung up on the record having a certain sound all the way through. Evolution had a lot of different sounds on it. That’s one of the things people loved about it. It was just great songs. There were all different kinds of styles. I said, oh yeah, you’re right. And that kind of relaxed be about the whole thing.”

Backstage getting ready to sing for Linda Ronstadt. To say that this is a surreal feeling is an understatement. I’m so honored.
