If you’ve seen the cover of Midland’s latest album, featuring their current single, “Cheatin’ Songs,” then you know it has a throwback feel to it, but with an art deco twist. The picture is of the three of them sitting on the bumper of a bubblegum pink vintage Cadillac, wearing throwback polyester sport coats or suits, in front of an old drugstore/soda shop. When asked about choosing that location to shoot the cover of Let It Roll, lead singer Mark Wystrach said, “It has these really beautiful neon lights on the outside, and it has this kind of really gorgeous art deco exterior,” and it appealed to bassist Cameron Duddy’s wife, Harper, who is a very accomplished fashion photographer, and shot the cover of their album.
The cover shot of Let It Roll has a very cool vibe to it, but he gives all the credit to Harper. He says, “She comes from a tradition of artists and has studied as such. So, it’s like Midland doing kind of fine art, I guess, in our own way. You know, us just being goofballs but Harper actually making us look cool.”
Midland was supposed to join Tim McGraw on the Here on Earth Tour, which was cancelled out of an abundance of caution for everyone’s health and safety. Midland shared the news on Instagram and said, “We want to echo the sentiment of (Tim McGraw) in telling you the only thing we want more than to play shows for y’all is to make sure everyone is safe and healthy. We’re so bummed that the tour is cancelled but we assure you that we will be back and we will be coming in hot.”
