(AUDIO) MIDLAND DREW HEAVILY ON THE LATE 70’S/EARLY 80’S FOR THEIR NEW SINGLE

Midland just released a brand new single off their Let It Roll album called “Cheatin’ Songs.”  The song definitely has a classic cheating song vibe to it, and Jess Carson says, “’Cheatin’ Songs’ is very much from that Keith Whitley, that kind of an era.  There were so many cheatin’ songs in that era.  It was like, almost its own genre within Country Music.”

While Midland didn’t necessarily have a specific cheatin’ song in mine when they were writing their song, Jess says, “Musically I love that song, and lyrically, because it feels like a timeless song from that era.  It has a certain maturity to it.  I mean, one of my all-time favorite cheatin’ songs is Gary Stewart, ‘In Some Room Above the Street.’  That was very much within that late 70’s, 80’s era of country music.”

“Cheatin’ Songs” is the follow-up to “Mr. Lonely,” which can also be found on Let It Roll.
