Midland has done a lot of cool things in their career, but one of the coolest happened last month when they got open for Garth Brooks in Pittsburgh. According to Jess Carson, “We’ve done one show with Garth so far in Pittsburgh. It was the largest ticketed event in the history of Pittsburgh as a city, 75,000 people, Heinz Field. It was absolutely insane.”
Even though they were the opener, Midland still got to perform for a packed stadium, because Jess says, “The show actually got delayed about an hour and a half because of a thunderstorm. So, when we went on, it was like for the full 75,000 people. So, it was nuts, and Garth is just so gracious.”
Another cool moment for Midland came when they got to share a stage with Garth Brooks while he was sound checking. “He was sound checking,” recalls Jess, “and then we were waiting to sound check and he was like comin’ up on stage. So I’m standing like from me to you, next to him, and he’s playing ‘The River’ and ‘Thunder Rolls’. He’s like going through all these songs. You know, I’m just like standing right next to him. It’s crazy.”
Midland just announced their Let It Roll Tour, which will support their brand new album of the same name coming out on August 23rd, featuring their latest single, “Mr. Lonely.”
