(AUDIO) MIDLAND RESPONDS TO THE HURRICANE HARVEY AFTERMATH

Mark, Jess and Cam of Midland call Dripping Springs, TX, home, which is just outside of Austin and about three hours outside of Houston, and they have personal connections to the devastation left behind by Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area.  Mark Wystrach says, “Our lead guitarist, his brother lost his house and his parents’ house was damaged so much that it’s unlivable right now.  It’s really hard to watch, you know, to know that that many people are suffering in which is gonna be one of the most devastating natural disasters in Texas state history.  It’s gonna take years and years to recover from.”

The guys have been out on the road almost the entire time since the hurricane, so they haven’t been able to get home, but just like everybody else who is witnessing the need in Houston, they plan to pitch in however possible.  Cameron Duddy says, “We’re gonna do benefit shows and donate all the proceeds to the victims of Harvey.”

There are many different benefits being considered and planned and Mark says, “We don’t know all the details, who we’re gonna be working with, but our team’s working on it as we speak.”

Midland also wants to remind everybody that no matter your circumstances, there’s always something you can do to help.  Mark says, “We’re just doing everything we can to use our social outreach to inform people and all of our fans what they can do to help.  We’ve found that one of the most effective and easiest ways right now to donate is to text HARVEY, H-A-R-V-E-Y to 90999 and that’ll automatically deduct that from your phone bill directly to the Red Cross.”  “$10 donation, you can do it as many times as you want,” adds Cameron.

If you aren’t in a position to donate money, Mark reminds everybody, “Pretty much every community, every major city, there’s all kinds of groups that are organizing food drives and clothing drive cause people are … they lost everything.”
