CURRENT SINGLE: “Sunrise Tells the Story”
The very first award Midland ever won was the ACM Award for New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year in 2018. This year they’re up for Vocal Group of the Year, and as much as they would love to win, they also see the value in just being nominated. “It’s definitely validation when the people that you respect for their craft and how much time they’ve put into it, when they give you a tip of the hat, it’s a huge honor,” says bassist Cameron Duddy.”
Lead guitarist Jess Carson also realizes that there are more talented groups in country music every year than there are nominations available in the Group of the Year category, and he says, “Just sitting there, there’s always a moment, like when you’re nominated and they roll the people in your category that you’re nominated with, and you’re just kinda like, ‘Dang.’”
And whether Midland wins the ACM Vocal Group of the Year this year or not, lead singer Mark Wystrach says, “Anytime we’re getting recognized like this, it means that we’re getting more exposure and more and more people are gonna hear Midland. It’s great to be in the mix and in the talk, and getting nominated is like a win already.”
You can watch the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards, this Monday, March 7th, live from Las Vegas, at 8pm ET/7pm CT on Amazon Prime Video.
