NEW SINGLE: “Longneck Way to Go” w/ Jon Pardi
All of the members of Midland have young kids, and like a lot of parents, they’re gearing up for back-to-school time. Bassist Cameron Duddy was dreading having to go out and buy the required list of school supplies for his 6-year-old son, Kitt, but then he stumbled onto something.
Midland – back to school hack :16
Cameron Duddy – “Oooh, I just figured out a life hack, by the way. You can order a box of, you know the list that you get when they go to school? And you’re like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve gotta go to Target. It’s gonna take me an hour to find all this crap.’ You can pre-order a box and it’s all in there for the year, and it’s the standardized list.”
When it comes to the daily routine of getting the kids ready and off to school, Cam and Jess say they are very hands on with getting the kids dressed, lunches made and getting them to school.
Midland – getting kids ready :35
Cam Duddy – “We don’t carpool, we take them to the bus.”
Mark Wystrach – “You guys do the lunch and all that stuff?”
Jess Carson – “I do all that stuff.”
Cam – “Yeah.”
Mark – “Really? My wife does all that stuff.”
Jess Carson. – “My wife started a horse rescue and spends 12 hours a day in the barn now, so…”
Cam – “I spend 12 hours a day in the barn too (laugh).”
Mark – “We have a baby right now, so I do the night shift and he usually wakes up like twice. And I let my wife sleep, and then she gets up every morning around like 6:30. If I can sleep in till 8:30 after being up with the kid, that’s kind of nice. But she feeds the kids, she does all that stuff. It’s not that hard, but like, I get kind of panicked making lunch.”
Jess – “Just do it the night before, you’re good.”
Cam – “That’s what you gotta do, the night before.”
