Midland spends a lot of time on the road, so it’s not unusual for them to find themselves in a lot of truck stops, especially late at night, so we wondered what they usually buy when they’re in a truck stop, or what are some of the more unusual things they find in truck stops.
Mark Wystrach says, “We get BIGS black pepper sunflower seeds, the only one that doesn’t have MSG. The other ones that, if they taste like crack it’s because they have MSG in ‘em and are really bad for you. But we chew a lot of sunflower seeds and then of course beef jerky. You can never have enough beef jerky on the road.”
Sometimes out of boredom, or just to be funny, they’ll pick up absurd truck stop hats, but Jess Carson recalls one time where he says, “Not long ago we were thrown out of a truck stop for trying on some of the camouflage clothes with no intent to buy, and the owner liked that none too much.”
Midland will have plenty of time to visit truck stops this summer when they’re out on the road promoting their brand new single, “Mr. Lonely,” off their sophomore album, which they’ll be releasing later this year.
