(AUDIO) MIDLAND SHARES THEIR HIP HOP INSPIRATION

We all know Midland as a traditional country band, inspired by country music of the late 70’s and early 80’s, but bass player, Cameron Duddy, was recently inspired by hip hop music.  When asked about a live show that blew his mind, he said, “Oh my God. We saw Kendrick not long ago, and I really haven’t been to many hip hop concerts, although I dig the music, obviously, but just haven’t been to too many. I saw Kendrick not knowing what to expect and it was a full blown assault on my senses in the best way. It was visually stunning, musically his band was just untouchable.”

Midland puts on a high-energy live show, but after seeing Kendrick’s live show, Cameron says, “It was two hours of non-stop movement and it made me feel like I can never complain again because this guy’s doing it by himself, basically.  And his run was 30 dates in a row, type of thing, doing it every night, so it was inspiring to say the least.”

One song that definitely adds a lot of energy to Midland’s live show is their latest single, “Mr. Lonely,” which you’ll find on their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Let It Roll.
