In a short amount of time, Midland’s career has taken off like a rocket, having a debut #1 single with “Drinkin’ Problem,” their debut album, On the Rocks being named the best album of 2017 by the Washington Post and most recently winning the ACM Best New Duo or Group award. When asked if their success has changed them at all, Cameron Duddy joked, “I’ll be honest, we all have a butler.”
In all seriousness, Jess Carson never expected to be where their career has taken them. He says, “I think I thought we were going to kind of be a honky tonk bar band. That’s where we started. I mean this last year has been crazy. I mean, the acceptance of Drinkin’ Problem at radio and its success at radio has I think surprised a lot of people but we’re just happy to be along for this ride and to be here. And we try to take it one day at a time and be here in the moment, you know, and experience it.”
This summer and fall Midland will continue to build their career and their fan base on The Breakers Tour with Little Big Town, then a string of festival dates throughout the summer and an opening slot on Thomas Rhett’s Life Changes Tour this fall. They’re currently climbing the charts with their latest single, “Burn Out.”
