All three guys in Midland are dads, and lead guitar player, Jess Carson, has three young kids, ages 4, 3 and 1, and he admits he’s a total pushover when it comes to his kids. As an example, he says, “My daughter, Ida Mae, just had her birthday party, and where she got, I mean, just so many presents. My wife goes insane with the present buying, you know. And I took her to (the supermarket) H.E.B with me the next day and was guilted into buying her a toy, after she’d already gotten like (tons of toys for her birthday).
While Midland has been off the road for a while because of Covid-19, under normal circumstances, which would have them away from home touring a lot, Jess says, “Part of being gone, I think it makes you this kind of pushover. I think the kids know that.”
Since they haven’t been able to tour, Midland has been staying busy promoting their latest single, “Cheatin’ Songs,” which is currently in the top 30, plus they just released a new EP called “Guitars, Couches, Etc. Etc.,” featuring reworked versions of five of their previously released songs, including “Cheatin’ Songs.”
