Midland’s lead singer, Mark Wystrach, grew up understanding the true meaning and solemnness of Memorial Day because of his dad, who was in the military. “My father served in Vietnam and was lucky to come home, but three of his groomsmen that were in his wedding – they got married two weeks before my dad shipped off – three of his groomsmen and best friends didn’t make it back.”
Because of that, Mark has always considered Memorial Day to be a special day, and he says, “It’s a day that I always call my dad on Memorial Day and say thank you and we talk and he tells some stories. If you’re remembered you’re not forgotten, and we shouldn’t forget the people that have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice.”
Midland was supposed to be opening for Tim McGraw’s Here on Earth Tour this summer, but as with all tours, it’s still in limbo whether or not it’s going to proceed as scheduled. So, in the meantime, Midland has been finding ways to connect with fans through social media and promote their latest single, “Cheatin’ Songs.”
