(AUDIO) “MR. LONELY” IS MIDLAND CHANNELING GEORGE STRAIT

Midland’s latest song, “Mr. Lonely,” is a song they co-wrote with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, with whom they wrote most of their debut album and much of their upcoming sophomore album.  Bassist Cameron Duddy explains, “It’s like the ‘Fireman,’ a George Strait song that we had been trying to chase for quite some time.  And it’s kind of like a ‘Boot Scootin’ Boogie,’ Brooks and Dunn, up-tempo, really nice honky tonk feel.”

While Midland says the characters in their songs are often a combination of all three members, Cameron says, “Personally I’ve never been the guy that anybody looked at and goes, ‘Well I better be good to my girl or else that guy’s gonna grab ‘em.’ So, you know, I’d be lying to you if I told you I was. But there are people like that in the world.”

Ultimately, “Mr. Lonely” is meant to be a fun story, and it’s the first song released off Midland’s new album, Let It Roll, which will be released on August 23rd.
