Brantley Gilbert’s new album, Tattoos, is the first album he’s released that doesn’t have a faith-based title. But a lot of Brantley’s tattoos are faith based, which is why the title of the album seemed appropriate. And because his faith is central to his life, we wondered if Brantley had a favorite Bible verse. He told us he has a couple including one he has tattooed on the back of his left hand and fingers.
Brantley Gilbert – favorite Bible verse :45
“This one I’ve wanted forever and just never had the time to get it and finally got it a few years back. Psalm 144:1 says basically, ‘May the Lord my God prepare my hands for battle and my fingers for warfare.’ And I take that literally, as in, if I ever have to throw these things (referring to his fists)… I’m sure the original purpose of that scripture in the Bible is not what we turned it into, but I feel like sometimes I like it to be in my way. And taken quite literally, if I ever have to use these for whatever reason, it’s that. But also, this is what I use for my craft. And you know, I feel a lot of times, like when I’m writin’ a song, I’m in the middle of like spiritual warfare. I may be battling with things in my mind and battling things in my day-to-day life and I’m writin’ my way out of it. So, it has a bunch of different meanings and means a lot to me.”
