CURRENT SINGLE: “Old School’s In”
Before moving to Nashville, Heath Sanders had a steady, full-time job working in the Arkansas oil fields. He figured that would be his career, but then his interest in music grew and he decided to move to Nashville to see if he could make a career out of it, and he says, “When I decided to move to Nashville, all my folks were… they were shocked for the most part.”
The one person who wasn’t shocked at all was his mom who always knew he would follow his dreams to Nashville. “I think my mama was the only one that was like, ‘Well, it’s about time.’ And she said, ‘I told you so.’ So, I get to hear that from her quite a bit. But, yeah, the rest of the family they were just all kinda shocked. I mean, that’s not really how it works back home. A grown man just don’t pick up and just go chase some dream, you know.”
While picking up and moving to Nashville to chase your dreams is not the norm for people from Heath’s small Arkansas hometown near the Ozarks, people back home know how talented he is, so he says, “A lot of people have a lot of faith in me and had no doubt that this thing would turn out the way it has. Obviously, you have your skeptics, and I hope I get to prove some of ‘em wrong and I hope I get to prove a lot of people back home right.”
When Heath proves those skeptics wrong, you can bet his mama will be the first one to say, “See, I told you. I knew he was gonna make it all along.”
