One of the many victims of the Covid-19 pandemic has been sports of every kind, which has been a real bummer to a lot of people, including Payton Smith. His #1 sports team is the LSU Tigers football team, and he says, “It’s not too crazy right now because it’s not football season, so not missing it too bad – or I am missing it but not during this time.”
One sport Payton is realizing he misses more than he might have thought, is professional hockey, which was at the tail end of its regular season when the shutdown happened. “I will say I’m missing the Nashville Predators, watching them play,” says Payton. “I didn’t watch hockey growing up in Louisiana but it definitely feels like one of those sports that I’ve kind of adopted and kind of taken on a whole new love for. So yeah I miss my Preds.”
The good news for Payton is that the NHL has announced a Return to Play Plan, which includes the Nashville Predators, who will participate in the best-of-5 qualifying round series whenever play resumes. In the meantime, Payton is continuing to promote his debut single, “Like I Knew You Would,” through a lot of online and virtual performances. Keep an eye on his social media to find out when and where you can see him performing.
