Besides being a great singer and songwriter, Payton Smith is also an incredible guitar player. While his family loves music and supported his passion for music at an early age, musicality isn’t something that necessarily ran in his family. According to Payton, “My dad played the radio. My mom played the radio. My brothers, they sang to the radio.”
Payton was inspired to play the guitar and become a country music singer when he was about four or five years old and watched Keith Urban performing on the CMA Awards on TV. But as far as growing up with music in his house, he says, “There was really no sort of instruments, you know. Nobody played instruments in my family. It just sort of was there. I just constantly heard music around the house.”
Now, thanks to Keith Urban, and growing up hearing music all the time in his house, Payton is making his own music, like his debut single, “Like I Knew You Would,” which he just released to radio last week.
