(AUDIO) PAYTON SMITH REMEMBERS GETTING HIS FIRST GUITAR LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY

To watch Payton Smith play the guitar, you would think he’s been playing all his life.  Considering he’s only 20, and he started playing when he was a young kid, he has been playing guitar for most of his life, and he’ll never forget the day he got his very first guitar.  “I got my first guitar when I was 10 years old. It was my tenth birthday, so I remember walking into the living room and there was like, this rope that was leading back into my closet.  So I followed the rope and I kind of figured out that it might be a guitar. And then I walked into the closet and there it was.”

Payton remembers seeing the guitar sitting there in all its glory, almost beaming, and he says, “I remember it like it was yesterday.  And started playing immediately, just started strumming open strings.  It sounded terrible.”

Payton has since become a pretty amazing guitar player, which has allowed him to become a pretty talented songwriter.  In fact, he co-wrote his debut single, “Like I Knew You Would,” and the other three songs on his self-titled EP, which is available to stream or download now.
