CURRENT SINGLE: “Sunrise Tells the Story”
When Midland performs live, the experience is a very reverent and special time with their fans. “You know, playing live music the way we do, with a seven piece band, it takes an incredible amount of focus and of practice,” Mark Wystrach explains. “And, I don’t know, you get into this, it’s like an altered self and an altered reality, like a trance kind of. That’s what it feels like.”
Mark doesn’t know if every artist feels the same way, but he says, “I just know that when Midland takes that stage you step into this other world, and it is like this trance where you do, you get lost in the music and it is a complete communion with the band.”
On those nights when the band is giving all their energy to the fans and the fans are giving that energy back to the band, Mark says, “I think when it’s done right, it is like this perfect dance between the fans and the band. The audience is propelling the band and the band is taking it up a level. And when it’s done right, it ends up pushing each other into the shared fervor, and it builds and builds and builds and builds.”
Mark admits, “That was the hardest thing for us with being off the road, was missing that exercise, you know, this meditation and this crazy experience that goes on.”
