(AUDIO) PLAYLISTS ALLOW ELI YOUNG BAND TO REFLECT AND REMINISCE

These days it seems there are playlists for just about everything.  Jon Jones of Eli Young Band even made a playlist for the birth of his daughter, but she was born so quickly that they didn’t get to use it.  But the band says when they do create playlists, a lot of times it takes them back to the early times in their career.  “You know we’ve been asked as a band to put together a playlist and those are the fun ones for me to do,” says Jon, “look back at the music that’s influenced us or that we’ve listened to when we were in the van and trailer – the stuff that could keep us from fighting or that when we were all hung over driving across Texas could kind of mellow us out and get us through the day. Those are the fun ones.”

Almost 20 years into their career, Mike Eli says, “Finding those playlists kind of, I think, in some ways, it’s a good reminder of that early feeling of where you were perspective wise. I think we can get bogged down on the little things that stress us out nowadays, you know, we shouldn’t be stressing out about. And those songs can sometimes remind us about what it feels like and what it felt like back then when we were out on the road and young and we had the world to take over, you know.”

For Jon, the songs and artists he tends to put on his playlists hasn’t changed a lot because he says, “It feels like the older you get the more set you are in the music you listen to.  Honestly what’s great about listening to country radio and finding the songs that still bring you back.”

Eli Young Band just released their new song, “Break it In,” which will undoubtedly end up on many playlists about love or notalgia.

Jon – And surprisingly I feel like my playlist hasn’t changed much in the past a lot of years and so it’s really great when you hear a record or a song that gives you some of those feelings again.  And it feels like the older you get the more set you are in the music you listen to.  Honestly what’s great about listening to country radio and finding the songs that still bring you back.”
