Rascal Flatts has been making a living in the music business as a group for over 18 years, and in that time they’ve seen some changes in the industry, but Gary LeVox says, “The business side of things, the way that people buy music has changed, but I don’t think the way touring and all of that has changed very much.”
What has changed is the way the fans get their music. “There wasn’t streaming and all of that kind of stuff in the past,” says Gary. “You know it went from eight tracks to vinyl to cassettes to now you can just sit at home and download it. So I think that’s probably the biggest change in the music industry.”
Fortunately, even now, 10 studio albums and over 30 singles into their career, including their latest, “Back to Us,” Gary believes the fundamentals of the business haven’t changed. He says, “Hopefully you have a hit song and you can go out and you can put together a good tour and you can go work a new record and I think all that’s still the same.”
Rascal Flatts has wrapped up touring for 2017, but they’re expected to announce a big 2018 tour soon.
