Rascal Flatts just released their brand new EP, How They Remember You. The plan had been to release the EP while they were out on their Farewell Tour this year, as part of the year-long celebration of their 20thanniversary as a band, but obviously, with the coronavirus pandemic still gripping the nation, trying to plan anything is impossible. “Like everybody else, no one saw this coming and we were all thrown for a loop.” Says Jay DeMarcus, and he jokes, “Quite frankly, 2020 has really sucked for everybody and we are taking it day by day.”
As much as Rascal Flatts knows their fans would like to know when the Farwell Tour is going to happen or even if it’s going to happen now, Jay says, “There is not really a timeline for how and when venues are going to open back up and what the social distancing measures are going to look like. So, we’re playing the wait and see game right now. We don’t want to leave people hanging and just go away. We certainly want to go out and celebrate with them … but also (give) them a chance to see us for what may be one of the last times we’re around.”
While there’s no way to know what the future holds, Jay wants to assure fans, “We’re really, really focused right now on what the next steps are gonna be as far as getting back on the road and getting in front of the fans… We’re still gonna continue to make new music and we’re still gonna keep in touch with the fans, and also keep them informed as to what we’re doing and what those next steps are going to be when they do happen.”
In the meantime, check out the seven brand new songs on Rascal Flatts new EP, Hoe They Remember You, which is available now wherever you stream or download music.
Rascal Flatts – how feeling no farewell tour
Jay DeMarcus – “Like everybody else, no one saw this coming and we were all thrown for a loop, and quite frankly, 2020 has really sucked for everybody and we are taking it day by day. It’s a moving target. There is not really a timeline for how and when venues are going to open back up and what the social distancing measures are going to look like. So, we’re playing the wait and see game right now. We don’t want to leave people hanging and just go away. We certainly want to go out and celebrate with them but we’re really, really focused right now on what the next steps are gonna be as far as getting back on the road and getting in front of the fans, and not only celebrating 20 years – incredible 20 years – with them but also giving them a chance to see us for what may be one of the last times we’re around. But we’re still gonna continue to make new music and we’re still gonna keep in touch with the fans, and also keep them informed as to what we’re doing and what those next steps are going to be when they do happen.”
