(AUDIO) RASCAL FLATTS IS FINDING NEW MEANING IN THEIR OLD HITS

Rascal Flatts has been making hits for almost 20 years, and they admit that at this point in their career, a lot of their earlier hits have taken on a different and deeper meaning for them.  Joe Don Rooney explains, “I think it’s amazing that after all these years like some of the earlier hits we had like ‘Broken Road,’ and ‘What Hurts The Most’ and ‘My Wish,’ Jay and I we weren’t married at that time and we definitely didn’t have kids at that time. But now we are married and have families, have kids, and now singing the songs on stage just take on a different meaning for us.”

At times Joe Don finds himself getting more emotional about some of their songs.  He says, “I’ve caught myself on stage some nights when Gary’s really honkin’ down on ‘My Wish’ and singing the guts out of it and feel myself thinking about my kids or something. It just affects me differently. I start tearing up on stage. People are probably like, ‘What the hell’s wrong with that kid?’”

Jay DeMarcus agrees.  He says, “’My Wish’ used to be my mom’s song to me, now it’s a different perspective for sure.”

Now that all three guys in Rascal Flatts are happily married, they can definitely relate to their latest single, “Back to Life,” which talks about the affect the women in their lives have on them through their love and support.
