Rascal Flatts’ latest single, “Back to Life,” was co-written by Shay Mooney of Dan and Shay, with Cary Barlowe, Niko Moon and Fred Wilhelm. Naturally, when Shay is a writer on a song, he often sings the demo, which is definitely a plus when it’s a song that’s being pitched to Rascal Flatts, since Shay sounds a lot like Gary LeVox. “I mean, I think it definitely helps,” says Gary, ”when Shay sings a demo and we hear it, because he grew up listening to us and learning everything that we’ve done. And they actually wrote this song for us, to pitch to us, and it all worked out.”
Considering “Back to Life” is in the top 20 on the charts and continuing to climb, it did indeed all work out.
