Rascal Flatts latest song, “Back to Life,” is currently climbing up the charts, but the guys have been hinting that they’re back in the studio working on new music. Jay DeMarcus posted a picture of him and Joe Don Rooney in the studio and he captioned it, “Great, NEW things coming your way…… Very soon. @joedonrooney and I working extremely hard in the studio.”
Rascal Flatts co-produced their last album with busbee, plus they solo produced “Back to Life,” and when it comes to being able to produce themselves, Jay says, “I think at first it was difficult to find our stride, but I think it’s gotten easier. I think that when all of us get in there and we love a song, we all know what our strengths are, so it’s easy to just kinda go, ‘Alright, we know how to do this song. Gary’s gonna go sing the crap out of it, I’m gonna play bass, Joe Don’s gonna play guitar … and break!’ You know, it’s like we break the huddle and we go do it.”
Based on “Back to Life’s” success thus far, it seems the guys know themselves and what works best for them pretty well. No word on when we might be getting some of this new music that they’ve been hinting about, but we’ll keep you posted.
