Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts is an avid golfer, and last year he had a chance to design a special golf shirt for one of his favorite clothing brands, Sligo Golf. Joe Don explains, “They came to me last year and asked me to design a golf shirt with my son that could have his imprint on it, mixed with my ideas and maybe we could give it back in some way, in a positive way, to a foundation or to a charitable cause.”
Joe Don chose one of Rascal Flatts’ favorite charities, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, to benefit from the proceeds of his and his son Jagger’s shirt. The design of the shirt was a father/son effort. “Jagger wrote his name on the bottom of the shirt, and on the back of the shirt there’s a guitar pick kinda shape, with the top just below the collar, that has a ‘J’ in it, for Jagger,” says Joe Don. “The cool thing about Sligo is that any golfer that does design a shirt with them, they name it somethin’. They give it some type of name, whatever it is. But, this one’s named Jagger after my son Jagger. I’m very proud of that and I’m very proud about the cause that we’re giving back to. It feels very, very good.”
Joe Don and Rascal Flatts will soon be heading off to Las Vegas for their nine-date residency at The Joint, inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Named after their latest single, “Rascal Flatts Vegas Riot!” will run through March 14th. You can get tickets and more details here.

Rascal Flatts – Joe Don Jagger golf clothes 1:14
“There’s a golf clothing company called ‘Sligo Golf’ and I’ve been with them now for pretty close to four years, I guess, maybe five, and they came to me last year and asked me to design a golf shirt with my son that could have his imprint on it, mixed with my ideas and maybe we could give it back in some way, in a positive way, to a foundation or to a charitable cause, and I thought it’d be great to give it back, part of the proceeds, give it back to ‘Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital’, since it’s so near and dear to mine and Gary and Jay’s hearts here in Nashville, Tennessee. I thought it’d be perfect to tie it in with my son, being six-years-old, and the shirt just turned out amazing. Actually, Jagger wrote his name on the bottom of the shirt, and on the back of the shirt there’s a guitar pick kinda shape, with the top just below the collar, that has a ‘J’ in it, for Jagger. The cool thing about Sligo is that any golfer that does design a shirt with them, they name it somethin’. They give it some type of name, whatever it is. But, this one’s named Jagger after my son Jagger. I’m very proud of that and I’m very proud about the cause that we’re giving back to. It feels very, very good.”
