(AUDIO) RASCAL FLATTS RECALLS THEIR HARROWING THANKSGIVING EXPERIENCE

While Rascal Flatts probably has many pleasant Thanksgiving memories, one the “Back To Us” singers will never forget involves a scary moment aboard a malfunctioning airplane.  As Gary LeVox recalls, “We did the Macy’s Day Parade on Thanksgiving early on and we were on a plane, and that’s when you could still go to the gate.  And our moms were waiting for us inside the terminal and they were watching it and our flight gear didn’t come down off the plane.”

One thing that concerned Gary were all the flight attendants who had hitched a ride on the plane in first class to head home for Thanksgiving.  He laughs and says, “When you start seeing a whole first class full of flight attendants looking at the emergency landing pamphlet, we’re going okay …”

Jay DeMarcus, perhaps living in a little bit of denial says, “And they foamed the runway and I remember distinctly looking out and I went, ‘Huh, there must be something going on down there. What in the world is going on?’”

Knowing that their moms were waiting for them in the airport and probably watching everything through the window, the guys were all thinking, “Lord please don’t let us die on Thanksgiving … In front of our mothers!”

Rascal Flatts – Thanksgiving memorable travel moment  :51

Gary LeVox – “Something I think we’ll never forget is we did the Macy’s Day Parade on Thanksgiving early on and we were on a plane, and that’s when you could still go to the gate.  And our moms were waiting for us inside the terminal and they were watching it and our flight gear didn’t come down off the plane. So we had to keep coming down, they’d shoot these big spotlights underneath there and the whole first class, we were in coach, the whole first class was flight attendants going home for the holidays.  So when you start seeing a whole first class full of flight attendants looking at the emergency landing (laugh) pamphlet, we’re going okay …”

Jay DeMarcus – “And they foamed the runway and I remember distinctly looking out and I went, ‘Huh, there must be something going on down there. What in the world is going on?’ We got the drink cart out though, in a hurry.”

Gary – “The whole time we’re going, Lord please don’t let us die on Thanksgiving.”

Jay – “In front of our mothers!”
