(AUDIO) RASCAL FLATTS SAYS GIVING BACK IS SIMPLY ABOUT BEING GOOD HUMANS

Rascal Flatts supports a variety of charitable causes, but one that is particularly close to their hearts is the Monroe Carroll Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville.  For the past 11 years the guys have been making annual visits to the hospital to perform for patients, and they have raised millions of dollars for the hospital over the years and helped open the Rascal Flatts Pediatric Surgery Center at the hospital in 2010.

For Gary, Jay and Joe Don, using their platform for good and giving back is a no brainer.  Jay says, “I think we’ve always felt like as a band that if we were blessed enough to be in a position to pay it forward and to give it back and bless somebody else that it was just your responsibility. It’s just the right thing to do. I said for years that it’s funny to get patted on the back and get accolades and everything for things that you just should do as a good human being.”

While it’s nice to get awards and #1 songs and to sell out concerts, Jay says, “It’s real important for us to make sure that we pass the blessings on because we all feel like, I know all three of us feel like we’ve been blessed far beyond what we ever imagined or thought we deserved. And with that comes a great responsibility to bless others. And we’ve just tried to use our platform to influence people and to maybe spread a little good and a little hope in this world.”

Rascal Flatts’ latest blessing is their song, “Yours If You Want It, which is steadily making its way up the chart.  It’s the first song off their brand new album, Back to Us, which will be released on May 19th and is available for pre-order now on RascalFlatts.com.

Rascal Flatts – why important to give back  :43

Jay DeMarcus – “I think we’ve always felt like as a band that if we were blessed enough to be in a position to pay it forward and to give it back and bless somebody else that it was just your responsibility. It’s just the right thing to do. I said for years that it’s funny to get patted on the back and get accolades and everything for things that you just should do as a good human being, you know. And it’s real important for us to make sure that we pass the blessings on because we all feel like, I know all three of us feel like we’ve been blessed far beyond what we ever imagined or thought we deserved. And with that comes a great responsibility to bless others. And we’ve just tried to use our platform to influence people and to maybe spread a little good and a little hope in this world.”
