When Rascal Flatts was recording their latest album, Rewind, featuring their new single, “I Like the Sound of That,” they wanted to grow and stretch their limits, but at the same time they wanted to give fans the kind of music they’ve come to expect from the group. Jay DeMarcus says, “I think it’s a statement that we’re gonna stay true to who we are musically as Rascal Flatts, but I think that a whole new generation of Country music listeners are gonna discover us for the first time and find new reasons to become a fan. I think it’s the perfect bridge between the old classic Rascal Flatts and a new generation of Country music.”
Jay acknowledges that country music has changed so much in just the last five years, and if you want to stay relevant you have to grow with it, but at the same time he says you’ve got to stay true to yourself. “I believe we’ve found songs that have done that – taken us into the new generation of Country music while still staying true to ourselves. This is a renaissance record for Rascal Flatts.”

Rascal Flatts – Rewind is a bridge :49
Jay DeMarcus – “I think the theme for this record is pretty easy. I think it’s a statement that we’re gonna stay true to who we are musically as Rascal Flatts, but I think that a whole new generation of Country music listeners are gonna discover us for the first time and find new reasons to become a fan. I think it’s the perfect bridge between the old classic Rascal Flatts and a new generation of Country music, because music’s changed so much over the past five years, and I think that if you allow yourselves to stay in one spot and not grow and change with the trends to a degree while being true to yourself, which is a tough line to skirt, but I believe we’ve done it. I believe we’ve found songs that have done that – taken us into the new generation of Country music while still staying true to ourselves. This is a renaissance record for Rascal Flatts.”
