In this day and age where a lot of people stream music instead of buying full albums, some artists are bummed about the fact that people tend to cherry pick songs and don’t listen to complete projects. But Rascal Flatts, whose career spans almost two decades, views streaming as a great way for new fans to discover their music. According to Joe Don Rooney, “I think the younger generation, definitely, I think they’re stumbling onto some stuff, absolutely. I think ‘Back to Life’ is one of those songs that’s kind of, the younger generation, that’s hip to Spotify and that’s really all they do is stream, I think they’re finding that song and it’s pretty cool to watch it growing.”
Plus, for new Rascal Flatts fans, streaming is a great way for them to discover the band’s older songs, so Joe Don thinks it’s a great thing. He says, “I think there’s a number of new fans we’ve garnered from the streaming world.”
Jay DeMarcus joked that the downside to streaming is that it’s messing up his side business. He says, “I think it’s great. I still have a trunk full of ‘Prayin’ for Daylight’ cassingles I’m trying to sell.”
