CURRENT SINGLE: “Saltwater Gospel (Fins Up version) feat. Jimmy Buffett
Eli Young Band recently rereleased “Saltwater Gospel,” a huge fan favorite song that first came out in 2016 that never got a real shot at climbing the charts. The new version is a collaboration with Jimmy Buffett, called the Fins Up version, and EYB bass player, Jon Jones, says, “When the conversation started about rereleasing ‘Saltwater Gospel,’ we were really thrilled.”
If you’ve ever seen Eli Young Band live, then you know “Saltwater Gospel” is one of the songs that gets the biggest reaction in their set list, with fans singing back every word, and Jon says it’s been like that, “since day one really, since before we released it to radio the first time. And even after it was released the first time, it kept on growing and growing, people asking for it, singing along. So, it really just felt like a no-brainer to us (to rerelease it). We were on board immediately.”
Getting to re-record “Saltwater Gospel” with Jimmy Buffett, who basically personifies the ocean, was the absolute cherry on top for Eli Young Band, when it came to rereleasing the song.
