Growing up, Riley Green was always playing sports. “I played football, baseball and basketball all the way through high school,” says Riley. “I love basketball. Baseball was great. I’m a decent baseball player. I think I’m scared of the ball a little bit.”
Riley admits one of the reasons he loves football so much is because he was kind of the center of the team. He says, “I think football was always my sport, and there’s something about when you’re the quarterback, like you’re the guy, you touch the ball every time. It’s hard to play a sport where there’s nine guys out there. I struggled with that in baseball because I always want to be ‘the guy,’ you know. But I think football was always my sport.”
If you ever get close enough to smell Riley, whose latest single, “In Love by Now,” is climbing the charts, you may smell a bit of nostalgia inspired by one of his childhood football heroes. “I was a big Cowboys fan,” explains Riley. “I always wanted to be quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. I still wear Brut Cologne from Wal-Mart cause Troy Aikman wore it, you know, he was in that one commercial.”
Riley is currently out on the road with Brad Paisley, opening for his world tour 2019. Later this year, he’ll hit the road with Jon Pardi on his Heartache Medication Tour.
