Most guys will admit that they’ve done something dumb to impress a girl, and Riley Green is no exception, which is exactly what inspired him to write his top 10 debut single, “There Was This Girl.” In fact, Riley says, “There’s probably more than one thing I could say that I did dumb to try to impress a girl. There’s probably a lot that I can’t say too.”
Besides his own personal experiences, Riley also drew inspiration for his debut single from a popular 1980’s film. “I can remember when we wrote the song,” says Riley, “I was thinking about that movie Footloose, when they were like racing the tractors, like playing chicken with the tractors. That was like my way of relating to me like, you know, riding around doing donuts in a field somewhere trying to impress a girl back in Alabama. So I feel like that’s probably a pretty relatable thought to a lot of guys.”
In fact, if you’ve checked out Riley’s EP, In A Truck Somewhere, or the new song he released for fans called “In Love By Now,” you’ll hear that most of what Riley writes is very relatable to a lot of people because it’s all based on real-life inspiration.
