Riley Green’s latest song, “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” is steadily climbing the charts, but if you were to ask him where it’s at on the charts at any given moment, he probably couldn’t tell you. While Riley has people who offer him updates on how the song is doing, he isn’t really a chart watcher, like some artists are. He says, “I think I would probably be a lot more of a chart watching person if I really understood how all of it works. I’m not quite Nashville savvy enough to understand all of it.”
Riley is currently headlining his Get That Man A Beer Tour and he’s also out on the road with Jon Pardi on the Heartache Medication Tour, and to him, the best indication of how his songs are doing is how fans are reacting to it live. So when he hears from his team that a song is moving higher on the charts, he says, “I guess it means that people are liking the song which, you know, from the songwriter side of me, I really enjoy a lot to see people relating to my music. A song on the charts is something that I never really thought I’d have so watching it go up the charts is pretty exciting.”
Riley will be out with Jon Pardi through November 3rd, then he’ll continue his Get That Man A Beer Tour through December 14th. You can get a complete list of his tour dates on rileygreenmusic.com.
