Riley Green played football in college, but if he had to pick his favorite sport, it would definitely be hunting, which he calls his biggest passion. In fact, Riley laughs when he thinks about one of his ex-girlfriends who he says, “used to tell me that if I was just sittin’ there kinda spaced out, she’d ask me if I was thinkin’ about turkeys. And I probably was.”
These days, Riley’s schedule is pretty hectic, between playing his own tour and opening for Jon Pardi on the Heartache Medication Tour, plus promoting his latest single, “I Wish Grandpas Never Died.” But he says, “I still can’t wait to go home and check my game camera and see if there’s been deer comin’ up and eatin’ the sunflowers and beans in the backyard, you know, and that’s just somethin’ that kind of keeps my mind off of the everyday grind, I guess.”
One of the things Riley loves the most about hunting is the fact that it allows him to get off the grid and disappear, even if only for a little while. “It’s a cool way to get out and disconnect is to go out into the woods and sit where nobody can find you and you don’t have cell service,” says Riley. “That’s still my favorite hobby.” We’re pretty sure he’s referring to the hunting, and not the hiding.
Riley Green – hunting is favorite sport :27
“Huntin’ is my biggest passion. I had a girl I dated for a while that used to tell me that if I was just sittin’ there kinda spaced out, she’d ask me if I was thinkin’ about turkeys. And I probably was. My lifestyle’s changed quite a bit but I still can’t wait to go home and check my game camera and see if there’s been deer comin’ up and eatin’ the sunflowers and beans in the backyard, you know, and that’s just somethin’ that kind of keeps my mind off of the everyday grind, I guess. And even moreso than that, it’s a cool way to get out and disconnect is to go out into the woods and sit where nobody can find you and you don’t have cell service. That’s still my favorite hobby.
