CURRENT SINGLE: “If It Wasn’t for Trucks”
Riley Green is a prolific songwriter, often writing most of the songs he records, based on his own life experiences, but like every songwriter, he has his strengths and his his weaknesses when it comes to writing songs. “I guess if I had to pick, as far as musically or findin’ the lyrics, I’m definitely more of a word guy,” says Riley. “My granddaddy Buford was a really witty guy and was writin’ poems. I would say that’s probably my biggest strong suit.”
Fortunately, Riley has found a lot of great co-writers whose strong suit is crafting melodies, so he’s learned to rely on them when he needs to. He says, “A lot of guys that I write with are very helpful for me comin’ up with different melodies. That’s something that I try to learn to appreciate and benefit from, in the sense of, if I have an idea I might go in there and just say it and kinda sit back and see what somebody comes up with. Because it might be a little different than what I would.”
Riley co-wrote his latest single, “If It Wasn’t for Trucks,” off his EP of the same name, with Randy Montana and Erik Dylan.
