The video for Riley Green’s latest single, “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” is a live concert performance that starts with him singing the song on a stool with just him and his guitar, but by the time the video and the song end, the entire crowd is singing so loudly that they completely take over singing the song. Riley wrote the song by himself, although if you look at the writing credits, you’ll see two other names, which are his two grandfathers, who inspired him to write the song, and he says, “It’s pretty amazing to see something that I wrote about my life and my family be related to in a way this song has.”
Besides the fact that the live performance video for “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” is a powerful testament to the passion Riley’s fans have for this song, he loves it because he says, A) a pretty good way to give back to folks who helped me get where I’m at, but also, B) I don’t have to act in some cheesy music video, so It works out great for me.”
And while most of us will never know what it feels like, Riley says, “It’s a really good feeling to get in front of fans and them sing a song I made up back to me.”
Riley Green – Gpas video reaction to fans singing :24
“It’s pretty amazing to see something that I wrote about my life and my family be related to in a way this song has. And, you know, I’m always a fan of … I don’t know if you’re familiar with ‘There Was This Girl’s music video. It was also somewhat about the fans. And I like that type of video because it’s A) a pretty good way to give back to folks who helped me get where I’m at, but also, B) I don’t have to act in some cheesy music video, so It works out great for me. But it’s a really good feeling to get in front of fans and them sing a song I made up back to me.”
