CURRENT SINGLE: “If It Wasn’t for Trucks”
When Riley Green first started building his music career, he would play just about anywhere for anybody, to earn money and build a following, so when we asked him to tell us about the worst gig he ever played, he said, “There’s probably a lot I couldn’t talk about I still haven’t told my mom about yet.”
Early on, Riley booked his own gigs, but he says, “I never called a venue and said, ‘Hey man, can I play here?’ It was all word-of-mouth stuff, and because of that, I also didn’t turn much down.”
In fact, Riley once got booked as the musical entertainment for a book club party full of middle-aged women, and he says, I was kind of half expecting I was gonna have to come in dressed like a police officer and start strippin’ or somethin’. But it was a lot of different gigs and private parties and stuff like that in a small little area of northeast Alabama. And until I started really having options where I could might play a few different places a weekend, I couldn’t turn a gig down. I couldn’t afford to.”
Now we’re kinda curious about the gigs Riley hasn’t told his mom about.
Riley Green – worst gig :34
“There’s probably a lot I couldn’t talk about I still haven’t told my mom about yet. I booked my own gigs up until a few years ago, and I never called a venue and said, ‘Hey man, can I play here?’ It was all word-of-mouth stuff, and because of that, I also didn’t turn much down. So like, I played like a book club party, for like some middle-age women one time. And I was kind of half expecting I was gonna have to come in dressed like a police officer and start strippin’ or somethin’. But it was a lot of different gigs and private parties and stuff like that in a small little area of northeast Alabama. And until I started really having options where I could might play a few different places a weekend, I couldn’t turn a gig down. I couldn’t afford to.”
