(AUDIO) RILEY GREEN WAS DEFINITELY FEELING A 90’S VIBE ON HIS DEBUT ALBUM

Riley Green grew up liking all kinds of music, but 90’s country was definitely a lot of what he grew up listening to, which is why you can hear a lot of that influence on his debut album, Different ‘Round Here, featuring his latest hit single, “I Wish Grandpas Never Died.”

When Riley was writing songs for the album he says, “I remember going to the write and telling Rhett [Akins] and Marv [Green] and Ben [Hayslip] that I wanted to write [a song like] ‘Two Dozen Roses’ by Shenandoah, just like a straight down the middle 90’s country song,” because that was a cover he often did in his show, and he says, “I thought man, that sound, those guitar licks and the intro that are recognizable, that type of thing, and there’s definitely a 90’s country feel to a lot of the songs on this record.”

“I Wish Grandpas Never Died” is currently in the top 20 on the charts, and Riley is gearing up to be the opener on Jason Aldean’s We Back Tour, which kicks off on January 30th.

“Well that was more what I came up in, was 90’s country, and I’ve said ‘In Love by Now,’ I remember going to the write and telling Rhett and Marv and Ben that I wanted to write ‘Two Dozen Roses’ by Shenandoah, just like a straight down the middle 90’s country song.  And that was a cover we did, and I thought man, that sound, those guitar licks and the intro that are recognizable, that type of thing, and there’s definitely a 90’s country feel to a lot of the songs on this record.”
