(AUDIO) RILEY GREEN WENT FROM BEING A FAN TO A FRIEND OF JUSTIN MOORE’S

CURRENT SINGLE: “If It Wasn’t for Trucks”

Riley Green has always been a fan of country music, and even though he’s now a country music singer himself, he says, “I’m not far removed from being just a fan.”

One of the cool things that’s happened to him over the last few years is getting to become friends with some of the people he’s been a fan of for years.  And Riley says, “I was always a big fan of Justin Moore, and I remember going to his shows.  And his road handler, a guy name JR, always kind a championed for me a little bit. And I remember him sending me pictures of Justin wearing one of my T-shirts and that kind of stuff.”

Seeing that kind of support from Justin was a big deal to Riley, because he says, “Justin‘s always been that guy that I’ve looked up to.  I think it’s something that’s pretty unique to country music and the country music industry, is everybody’s been where I’m at. Everybody had to work their way up so, everybody tries to help each other out and Justin was probably the biggest version of that I’ve seen. I can remember seeing videos of him doing interviews with a Riley Green hat on.  And he probably bought it, which is crazy.”

They say you should never meet your heroes because you might be disappointed, but Riley says, “The coolest thing about what I’m doing, is going from being a fan of somebody and just having respect for ‘em and lookin’ up to ‘em, to seeing ‘em and meeting ‘em and then becomin’ a friend with ‘em and making that relationship. And it was just really easy to do with Justin cause he’s a really genuine guy.”

Riley was a guest on The Justin Moore podcast last season.  You can listen to their episode on demand wherever you get your podcasts.
