(AUDIO) RILEY GREEN’S FANS ARE PART OF THE REASON HE’S A GREAT SONGWRITER

current single: “WORST WAY

Riley Green wrote his latest song, “Worst Way,” by himself.  In fact, it’s one of four songs on his latest album, Don’t Mind If I Do, that were solo writes for Riley, including “Good Morning from Mexico,” the title track, and the powerful “Jesus Saves.” Writing songs alone isn’t an easy task, but it’s something Riley does, often with incredible results, like his songs, “Numbers on the Cars” and “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” (he added both of his grandfathers as co-writers on that song because they were the inspiration for it). It stands to reason that Riley must put a lot of effort into constantly sharpening his songwriting skills and improving as a writer.

Riley Green – growth as writer :30

“I’m certainly motivated to be better, you know? I mean, I’ve had quite a bit of success that I never thought I would have. So, you know, you look at songwriting as something that you can become better at and do a better job at. And I think that I’ve always used the crowd every week to kind of help shape my songwriting – what songs do well, what lines really stand out, what I think gets this type of reaction. So, that’s why a lot of those solo rights or some of my bigger songs probably, is because I’m seeing that every night when I go out and play a show and it’s certainly nice to be able to write songs that evoke some type of emotion.”
