(AUDIO) RONNIE DUNN EXPLAINS HOW KIX BROOKS ENDED UP ON HIS LATEST SINGLE

Ronnie Dunn’s latest single, “Damn Drunk,” features his old singing partner, Kix Brooks, but it wasn’t actually something that was planned.  Ronnie says, “I would torture him at Caesar’s backstage. We would go down and have about 30 minutes before the show comes on. We’d sit in the dressing room and just for meanness, I’d pull out the roughs that we were doing in the studio. He’d just roll his eyes, kind of like, ‘That’s alright.’ Then I played ‘Damn Drunk’ and he goes, ‘Now that might be an okay song.’ And I said, ‘Really?’  ‘Yeah,’ he said, ‘It needs something. It needs some kind of lift on that hook line.’ And I said, ‘Well go do it, Hotshot. Do it.’ Sure enough I get a call from Jay DeMarcus and he did it. He went in and did it. He did a great job. I’m proud of him.”

Ronnie also clarifies that just because Kix is singing on his latest song doesn’t mean Brooks & Dunn are reuniting for new music.  For now they’re enjoying their gigs at Caesar’s in Las Vegas and are enjoying doing their own things both in and out of music.
